Anxiety panic attacks. I used to have them, when I was a kid. There is nothing quite like an anxiety panic attack, if you ever had one. It shuts you down and stops you cold. The symptoms vary from person to person. Sometimes the room spins. Other times, everything starts morphing into some jello like stuff . Your heart races, your stomach tightens, your legs get weak, and you get cold sweats.
Sometimes, the feeling is so overwhelming that nothing seems to overcome it, except maybe tranquilizers. I’ll be gasping for breath and having no way of controlling it. I remember the feeling, and it’s like the world coming to an end, if even for that moment.
Unfortunately, I didn’t figure out how to manage those panic attacks at that time, or make them go away. I have tried a number of anxiety treatments in the past, like sedatives or tranquilizers. But the problem was, these stuff makes you drowsy as well. So, they are really dangerous if you take them and drive as well. At first, sedatives will work, in the sense that they made the anxiety panic attacks better. However, the effect only lasts for a while.
Soon, you’ll probably find yourself relying more and more on them. That is when you may well find yourself addicted to them. Staying away from these sedatives triggers cold turkey reactions that negate any anti-anxiety effect they produce.
If you’re a sufferer of anxiety panic attacks, one way to help yourself is to join an anxiety support group, where you can discuss, share, and vent your frustrations with other fellow sufferers. Having a social network helps to a certain degree, but there’s more you can do. Treating the symptoms alone is not enough. You also need to treat the cause.
There are many novel cures for anxiety panic attacks on the market. I suggest you go check them all out, as it seems to me, not one type of approach works for everyone. Many people think herbs are a good solution; some yes, but mostly not. Some herbs have a mild sedative effect (and might cause addiction) if you’re not careful.
Meditation is one way to treat anxiety panic attacks, but it takes time and effort to see results. Nonetheless, I think meditation is one of the best ways to treat anxiety attacks. The results are long lasting, and overall, meditation helps your health in more ways than one. If you combine meditation and herbs together, you might be able to obtain better results. If you still want to stick to conventional methods, try going to see a psychiatrist or hypnotherapist. Hearing from someone is still a good way to get a second opinion on your anxiety attacks, and finally figuring how to use them.
